Residential Treatment (RTC) & Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Individualized, Safe, and Dignified Care for Older Adults
Stone Healing offers a specialized Geriatric Mental Health Program designed to meet the unique emotional, medical, and functional needs of older adults requiring structured mental health care. Our program serves adults typically ages 65 and older, as well as individuals ages 55–64 who present with age-related functional decline or complex, chronic medical or psychiatric conditions that impact emotional stability and daily functioning.
We provide care across two levels—Residential Treatment (RTC) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)—allowing treatment to be matched to each client’s level of need while prioritizing safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Who the Geriatric Program Serves
This program supports older adults experiencing:
- Depression, anxiety, or mood instability
- Trauma-related symptoms
- Grief, loss, or major life transitions
- Cognitive changes impacting emotional health
- Declining independence or functional ability
- Chronic medical conditions affecting mental health
- Medication complexity or polypharmacy concerns
- Difficulty safely managing outpatient care
Clients ages 55–64 are appropriate when they demonstrate accelerated aging-related needs, functional decline, medical complexity, or psychiatric vulnerability consistent with geriatric-level care.
Individualized Treatment Model
Stone Healing recognizes that traditional group therapy is not always clinically appropriate for aging adults. For this reason, core group-therapy concepts are delivered through a 1:1 individualized therapeutic approach, allowing clinicians to address each client’s unique challenges at an appropriate pace.
Clients receive:
- Individual therapy 3–4 times per week (RTC)
- 1:1 therapeutic sessions covering group fundamentals, including coping skills, emotional regulation, psychoeducation, and processing
- Trauma-informed, age-sensitive interventions
- Psychiatric assessment and medication management
- Family involvement when clinically appropriate
